Long term permafrost observations and the rapidly changing Arctic
Speaker: Julia Boike, AWI
Permafrost in the Arctic, which is warming more than four times as fast as the global average, is thawing at an accelerating rate. In this presentation, I will show an example of permafrost long term observations that I have carried out for more than 25 years at several sites in the Arctic. The focus will be on what type of data are collected, what kinds of challenges arise with these different data sources and how the bridging between experimental and data science really works.
